As with the learning of all new skills results may vary from person to person. The number of sessions you will need will depend upon the nature of your condition and your own level of commitment and motivation to want to make changes.
Anxiety, confidence and positivity
I know, my last session with you was about 10 months ago! It doesn't mean that I've forgotten though. I wasn't sure what to put in my testimonial back then, thought that my positive experience and an amazing impression about you as a therapist is kind of not enough (basically, I wanted some "real" examples, if you know what I mean)... Now, after ten months or so, I can confirm how much of an impact your therapy has had on my personality. I've became less stressed and, what is more important, less emotional, more organised and have started to prioritise efficiently both at work and at home (been promoted recently). More ambitious thoughts in my mind has appeared (I even completed my first half marathon and sign up for another one; never ever expected this, wasn't even big fan of running:)). I've become more interested in how my brain actually works and how can I improve it as well ... As you can see, no doubt hypnotherapy works!
Thankyou Janet for helping my 14 year old daughter, she had always been so happy and confident until she hit puberty. She started to suffer from anxiety, seemed so depressed with such a lack of energy and could no longer attend school on a daily basis. We had been to the Doctors and school had tried to help but it was continuing and worrying. You were recommended to us and so we came along to see if you could help.
Within a few weeks of seeing you my daughter said how, although she still found certain things stressful, you had provided her with strategies that helped her to cope and to understand that these feelings were quite normal. She said at about session 6 that she could tell that by session 10 she would be well on her way to being back on track, and so far, we saw you in February and apart from one morning (poorly), she has had 100% attendance until we broke up in July, she is so much happier in herself, I am so pleased and glad we came to you when we did. As my son and I sat at the breakfast table laughing before school I remembered I promised Janet I would write a testimonial. I didn't panic about it, I didn't worry that it had been a week since my last session or feel overwhelmed by the thought of another thing on my to do list, instead I carried on laughing and enjoying the moment.
Before meeting Janet I would have missed that moment with my son because my 'stress bucket' was too full and I had lost the ability to enjoy the simple things in life. I felt tired and unhappy and could no longer generate the adrenalin I had become used to running on to get the simplest of tasks done.

My job involves occasionally presenting to large groups of people and I found in the last few years I was getting more and more anxious whenever I had one coming up. I was recommended Janet by another of her clients and was pleased to have several sessions with her where we talked about my anxieties and where they might stem from. I found these sessions welcoming and fascinating - you learn such a lot about how your psyche works and how you can create neurological pathways. These principles can be applied to any other parts of your life where you need to be more in control. I have since done some presentations and using the techniques has really changed the way I feel about them - I am a lot more relaxed.
I was becoming increasingly disengaged with my work the last few years. Feeling increasingly side-lined and less able to carry the influence I used to have in my team. I felt increasingly powerless and introverted. This resulted in a serious performance reduction on my part, and I became quite frustrated and negative in my outlook. This coupled with a changing and difficult family dynamic at home resulted in a lot of tension and I began to boil over with frustration and anger more and more. Eventually I became very negative about my own ability to manage my work and family life and began to neglect my health as well.
I knew I had to do something differently to how I’d been approaching things so far and went to see Janet. She helped me visualise the reasons why my brain works this way – understanding the differences between the “fight and flight”, reactive part of the mind versus the more calculated thinking approach which allows me to calmly rationalise the reasons why things are happening and to deal with them in a more serene, proactive manner.
Janet’s approach was highly professional and displayed great patience - she is a very good listener, gaining a good understanding of one’s problems, allowing her to align her therapy effectively to the scenarios that cause the problems in life. I have learned a lot about the way my mind works and the reasons for my own reactions to problems. I am finding that my performance at work is improving and I feel increasingly self-confident. I am more able to walk away from confrontational situations rather than allow myself to end up shouting or being negative.
I had been putting off for years some tasks which I always was capable of sorting out myself, but was too scared to face. I found myself obsessively doing some diversionary activities, to avoid dealing with these tasks. The stress building up in the back of my mind was becoming a problem to my attitude and health. Janet helped me realise that I was the one holding the key to dealing with these problems and I now have more confidence to begin to resolve them. It feels such a relief – and the good thing is I know it’s only the start of a better approach to life.
I’d definitely recommend Janet to others. Her approach is well structured and I can see how it may be used across a wide spectrum of personal and performance-related applications.
Being very sceptical in the beginning with therapy in general, i was a little bit apprehensive to start with, Janet's approach and methodology however ensured i felt safe and comfortable during her sessions of solution focused therapy. i was comfortable in discussing underlying issues and Janet helped me to provide solutions to address issues i would normally have brushed under the carpet.

I was given the opportunity to attend sessions with Janet via work – I was sceptical at first, as although I know a bit myself about positivity having a lasting effect on ones life, I wasn’t sure how Janet could help me to achieve this anymore then I was doing. I also wasn’t sure if I fit the bill as I was already pretty good at thinking positively.
After meeting Janet the first time, she had me sold. The way she explained things resonated with me so much more then anything else before.
I needed help to understand the way negative thinking caused me to make myself anxious and even ill in some respects.

Janet helped me to completely implement positive thinking into my daily life – without so much as a thought about it. I first visited Janet to see if she could help with my motorway driving fear and it soon became evident that I had a general anxiety problem. I then continued to see Janet regularly. I cannot stress enough how much her practice has helped me. She has taught me a skill I didn't know I needed! She has shown me a new way to view life and by putting into practice what I have learnt I am now far more confident and sure of my own abilities. Life is a lot calmer now!

Over the last few months Janet has helped me to find the confidence to take the next step forward in my career. My son was struggling with the transition from Reception to Year 1 at school which left him very frustrated and he struggled to control his feelings. He had several sessions with Janet where she went through with him why he was feeling like this, what was triggering it and what he could do to calm down. This was based around stories and creative activities. We were only present at the initial consultation and then Janet took over and had weekly sessions with him. He really enjoyed this one to one time and I think it was key it was someone who wasn't a parent or teacher - he could be honest with her and there was complete trust. Along with other strategies at home and in school I am pleased to say that we haven't had any problems since this period and he is excelling at school.
We have enjoyed an amazing two weeks. A few days left... have a great holiday in NZ.

Sports Performance Enhancement
I have been doing sessions with Janet for a while and am seeing clear benefits. She is taking me through sports hypnotherapy sessions and both my focus and performance out on the track have improved. In fact I am currently ranked 8th in the UK for my chosen event in my age group. I am also more relaxed in everyday life and it seems problems no longer phase me at all. All in all I believe the treatment is greatly beneficial and I recommend it to anyone with a problem in need of resolving.

I have had fourteen sessions with Janet Dowling to help me deal with the pain I get in my shoulders from my spinal problem. I am 84 years old. Although the physical pain will be with me always my husband has noticed I can walk around supermarkets longer than I could before the treatment.
